3rd Dan
Everyone who knows Dean will know that his Karate speaks for itself. In the Dojo or in the fighting arena, once he puts on his 'Gi', he comes alive, he makes the art talk. Karate has been his life since he began at the age of seven back in 1990 and then in 1996 he progressed to a 2nd Dan grade now in June 2009 Dean passed his 3rd Dan grading. Dean's modesty shines through when he lists as the highlight of his karate career to date "achieving my 1st and 2nd and now my 3rd Dan grades". Those few words put everything in context, partly because he has been so successful on the fighting stage, but mostly because the thing which means the most to him are his grades, attained through hard work and determination. He is a natural fighter. His self discipline, loyalty and respect which was instilled as part of his training regime, came from his instructor Hugh 'Bungie' Ruse. He has always trained under 'Bungies' guidance at the Budokan Club in Swansea. For his club, Dean has entered and won numerable competitions up and down the country. He excels at fighting. He has been Welsh Champion, British Champion and North Wales Open Champion. He lists some of his greatest achievements as:- representing the British University Team at the world University Championships in 2004, winning the British University Champion in 2004 and in 2005, and also in coming 2nd in them, in 2006. Dean is still going from 'strength to strength' and is proving to be a formidable force on the fighting circuit. "Watch this space !" And as if that wasn't enough, Dean also participates in Bungie's Kickboxing Classes. There's just no stopping him. |
